After a brief illness, Peggy June Withers of Lake Brownwood was carried away in the arms of her Keepers of the Light to forever be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2011.

Peggy was born on March 3, 1951, in Brownwood, to Alvie and Beth Followwell. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, David Withers. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Brad Thedford and wife Charlyne of Brownwood, Holly Whittenburg and husband Joey of Kingsland, and Jonathan Withers and wife Stephanie of Waxahachie. She is also survived by four grandchildren who were the joys of her life, Jayden and Jayce Thedford, Hunter Withers and Madison Whittenburg. Also surviving Peggy, is her mother Beth Followwell of Edna, formerly of Brownwood, her sister Pam Yancey and husband Mike of Edna; two nieces, Kara Gillette and husband Dustin of Comanche and Kassie Burwell and husband Paul of Doylestown Ohio; one nephew, Kennon Yancey of Edna and one great-nephew, Dallas Gillette.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alvie Followwell and her grandparents, “Daddy Jim” and Mamie (Lucy) Followwell and Ben and Julia Nix.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, at the Brownwood Evangelism Center, where Peggy has been a member all of her life, with Pastor Ken Colegrove and the Rev. Don Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at the Brownwood Evangelism Center.
