Peggy Louise Goodman Edwards went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 21, 2014. Peggy was born October 26, 1927 at Elmhouse, Texas to Jesse and Ruby Goodman. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Sidney Church of Christ Sidney, Texas with Gabe Fisher and David Barnum officiating. Interment will follow at the May Cemetery May, Texas. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 PM at the Heartland Funeral Home Early, Texas.
Peggy graduated from Bardwell High School in May, Texas in 1945 and married Lawrence Edwards in November 1945. They made their home in Vernon, Texas where they both worked at the Vernon State Hospital. In 1957, they bought a farm in May, Texas. Peggy worked at the Comanche Manufacturing, in 1970 she went to work at the Texas Youth Commission transporting juveniles across Texas; a job she thoroughly enjoyed for 19 years. Lawrence passed away in 1989. Peggy married James D. Skadden in 1999, they enjoyed life on the farm until Jim’s passing in 2011.
Peggy is survived by her children; Sarah Young Rutledge and her husband Jack of Brownwood, Nathan Edwards and his wife Katie of May, Jay Edwards and his wife Rachel of Liberty Hill, Benny Edwards and his wife Ingred of Austin, and Janie Skadden of Houston. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren, one sister Bobbie Howard of Ennis, many nieces and nephews, and her very special friend Naomi “Sis” King.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one sister.
