The Pecan Valley Kiwanis Club held recently held their annual Sweetheart and Awards banquet at the Early First United Methodist Church. The members were joined by their Sweetheart, Early High School Key Club members, area Key Club Advisor, and Regional District 5 Advisor. Awards were given for perfect attendance, Lay Person of the Year, and Kiwanian of the Year. In addition, the Sophomore of the Year Scholarship winner was recognized.
Members dined on a meal of pepper belly and port wine glazed chicken with all the trimmings and chocolate cake with fudge drizzle and almonds for desert.
The banquet was conducted in the same format as a regular weekly meeting to give the sweethearts and other non-member guests a feel for how the club conducts their meeting each week. Division 12 Lt. Governor Becky Hartman was the guest speaker and presented “Growing up Kiwanis.” Mark Crouch, Trustee, Texas-Oklahoma Big Country Region, presented President James Glasscock with the Governor’s pin.
