Brownwood News – The Pecan Valley Kiwanis Club has completed the awarding of its 2017 $1,000 scholarships. This year the Brownwood-based Kiwanis Club was able to award four scholarships to deserving seniors at three of the Brown County High Schools, thanks to the public’s support of club fundraisers.
Students from Early, Blanket, Bangs, Zephyr, Victory Life, and Brookesmith High Schools were invited to submit applications. The Pecan Valley Kiwanis Board of Directors judged each application based upon five categories: Organization Participation, Leadership, Knowledge & Experience, Volunteering & Service, and Goals & Future plans. The four students earning the most points were awarded the scholarships.
“All of these students are very deserving, and we wish them the best as they continue their education,” said Kiwanis Club member, Don Holland.
