Funeral services for Patricia “Pat” Louise Martin, age 83, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, at Netherton Funeral Home with Ted Kell officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. She passed away November25, at a local nursing home.
Pat was born August 24, 1927 in Brownwood, the daughter of the late William Samuel and Minnie (White) Truitt. She had lived in Brownwood most of her life and was a member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ. She married John H. Martin in Blanket on May 24, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1979. Pat was a medical aide and a telephone operator for GTE for 10 years before becoming a homemaker. Anyone who knew Pat knew she had a heart of gold who would have given the shirt off her back to anyone in need.
Pat is survived by two sons, John Henry Martin, Jr. and wife, Sandi of Brownwood and George Martin and wife, Terri of Big Springs; two daughters, Sherry Mathers and husband, Jeff of Brownwood and Melody Stansell of Austin; grandchildren, Scott Martin, Stacey Martin, Brandy Stansell, John Henry Martin III; Vicki Wood, Michele Wiley and Howard Wood, several great grandchildren; son-in-law, Kenneth Allen of Taber City, North Carolina and sister-in-law, Mary Lee Truitt.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Martin, Sr., daughter, Nancy Martin Allen and brother, Johnny Truitt.
