kingPat Clayton King, age 86, of Brownwood passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Senior Care of Brownwood.

Funeral Services with Military Honors for Pat will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Slaymaker officiating, interment will follow at Voss Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

Pat was born on July 10, 1928 to Francis Barnett and Alma (Brown) King in Voss, Texas. He enlisted into the United States Marines in 1945 for 2 years. After leaving the Marines he joined the United States Air Force. Pat served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam during his military time. He retired as Master Sergeant in October 1967. He married Dicie Livicie Broadway Rodgers on July 26, 1952 in Brady, Texas. After retirement from the Air Force he worked a short time at 3M, and then was employed at Montgomery Wards as the appliance department manager, until the store closed in 1989. In 2003, he landed his dream job working with his daughter at Brindley Bookkeeping. He became the beloved friend of many clients that he cherished so much.

Pat leaves behind his daughter, Deleta “Dee” Brindley and husband Gary; son, Rodney Clayton King and wife Linda of Round Rock; grandchildren:  Gary Lee Brindley Jr. and wife Angie of Lake Dallas; Bryan Scott Brindley and wife Angelia of Weatherford, Michelle Brindley of Odessa, Michelle Shockley of Lake Jackson, Melissa Cook and husband Andy of Austin, and Jaime Erin Johnson and husband Jimmy of Round Rock; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Fay Brindley and Sean Porter, Stephenie Shockley, Erin Porter, Caitlin Shockley, Alyssa Kay Brindley and Joshua Clayton Brindley, Jasen Brindley, Emily Victoria Shockley, and Reed Clayton Johnson; sister, Wanda Westbrook and husband Morgan. He is also survived by other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dicie King; parents, Francis and Alma King; 2 daughters, Linda and Vickie King; brothers, Dick, Weldon, Don, and Robert King; and sister, Juanita King.
