Wounded Navy Medic Cody Williams is recuperating at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California and recently received a visit from his parents, Cloy and Jeana Williams. Cody was injured in an IED explosion in Afghanistan on July 10.
The Williams were able to travel to San Diego and spend a few days with Cody who arrived from Germany on Saturday, July 14th. According to Cody’s father Cloy, he has since been upgraded to stable condition and is currently in a rehabilitation program where he will be treated on an outpatient basis for his injuries. Although he has some back injuries, his father stated that Cody is in good spirits.
“Cody is very special and a good person. His spirit just can’t be broken,” said Williams. “He is going to recover and get through this. Seeing him took a lot of pressure off of us, it was good to know he was back home.”
Before his injury, Cody and his wife volunteered with the Red Cross and Cody was working on a degree in Homeland Security from Miramar College in San Diego. His parents look forward to seeing him return to his studies and getting involved again with the things he enjoys.Williams stated that Cody wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and support. He wanted to encourage everyone to send Cody the cards of support; this he feels will help Cody in his recovery. Those interested in sending cards may drop them by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, 600 E. Depot, by August 3rd. Anyone with questions or who needs cards picked up can call Joyce Leidig at 325-784-5014.
