Brown County Sheriff’s investigators along with a Texas Family and Protective Services investigator visited a Brownwood residence to follow up on a child welfare case which resulted in both parents’ arrest for drug related charges.
According to BCSO officials, both agencies had approximately one year’s history with this residence and its occupants. Tuesday, BCSO investigators Carlisle Gover and Jason Benefield and a TFPS caseworker travelled to a residence in the 1500 block of 6th Street where they met Bobbie Crelia who allowed them into the house. In plain sight, investigators noted various items of marijuana paraphernalia the report states.
When Crelia was asked about the marijuana, she surrendered a plastic baggie containing marijuana from the nightstand in her bedroom reported Gover. In that same drawer were a plastic baggie containing a quantity of methamphetamine and another baggie with more marijuana according to the report. She then led them to another drawer which contained three glass pipes used for smoking methamphetamines, each with heavy white residue the report states.
As the investigation began Joe Crelia, Bobbie’s husband, arrived home for lunch. According to BCSO, they both gave consent for investigators to search the rest of their home and more narcotics paraphernalia along with more methamphetamines were found. The total weight of the marijuana found was approximately 8 ounces and the total weight of the methamphetamines was approximately 4.3 grams the report states.
Gover reported that Joe Crelia admitted that the narcotics found belonged to him. Both Joe Crelia and Bobbie Crelia were arrested at that time, each were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, a first degree felony, and Possession of Marijuana greater than 2 oz, a Class B Misdemeanor.
“This was a good investigation, we got more (seized methamphetamines) than I’ve gotten lately,” stated Gover. “4 grams is worth about $400 on the streets, and is more than what a user will typically have.”
