Brownwood News – The Brown County Election’s Office reported 964 Brownwood residents voted in the Brownwood Mayoral and City Council races. Early voting took place April 23 – 27rd, and April 30 – May 1st. Election day voting will be between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on May 5, 2018. All voting for the Brownwood election takes place at the Brown County Elections Office – 613 N. Fisk.

 

 

Additional totals for early voting included 89 voted in the Blanket School Board races and 25 voted in the Bangs’ election for the proposal regarding the sale of alcohol for off-premise use. This does not count mail-in ballots which have not been tallied because as they are still being received. On Election Day this Saturday, Blanket voters will visit the Blanket ISD Cafeteria and Bangs voters will cast a ballot at the Bangs Community Center.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a political forum for the candidates on Friday, April 13th, at the Brownwood Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The forum featured the candidates from the Mayor and City Council races. Candidates attending and participating in the forum were Incumbent Mayor Stephen Haynes, and Challenger Mike Tittle. Incumbent Councilman H.D. Jones and Challenger Patrick McLaughlin.

The Pecan Valley Republican Women hosted a Candidate Forum on Tuesday, April 17th, at 6 p.m., at the Brownwood Depot. All candidates were present for the forum. A video can be viewed on the Pecan Valley Republican Women’s Facebook Page.
