The Brownwood City Council amended Stage 3 of their Drought Contingency Plan Tuesday, November 8th restricting outdoor watering to one day a week in an effort to conserve water in Lake Brownwood.
City Manager Bobby Rountree said that this reduces the current three day a week schedule down to one.
Addresses ending in odd numbers may water on Monday only from midnight to 9am and from 7pm until midnight.
Addresses ending in even numbers may water on Tuesday only from midnight to 9am and from 7pm until midnight.
Rountree said that water usage is low right now, but the city may consider eliminating all outdoor watering in the future if the lake levels continue to drop.
“The next step will be to eliminate all outside watering, and quite frankly with the cooler weather and rains this morning, our water usage is down about as low as it has been,” Rountree said.
The City of Early and the Brown County Water Improvement District are expected to pass similar revisions to their Drought Contingency Plans in an effort to reduce confusion for area residents.
Brownwood City Manager Bobby Rountree stated that Director of Public Works David Harris is in a meeting in Austin with TECQ looking into the possibility of recycling the city’s wastewater.
Currently, Lake Brownwood is 15.2 according to the Brown County Water Improvement District’s website.
