Thousands of homemade cookies were delivered to the Camp Bowie Training Facility on Tuesday in a program called Operation Cookie Drop. The cookies were baked, donated, and delivered to the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce office where organizer of the Debbie Morelock gathered and delivered them to the military this afternoon.
Morelock said there were 125 containers of cookies donated by area residents and she estimates that it equaled over 4000 cookies. Some residents even left cards of support and encouragement for some of the troops.
The cookies were given to the 21st Cavalry Brigade and the Kentucky Air Brigade who are currently training at Camp Bowie. They will be conducting training through Saturday and many will be deployed after the first of the year.
Operation Cookie Drop is organized as a small gesture of gratitude to these members of the military who risk their lives for our country.
