Opal Dean Montgomery was born October 16, 1919 in Edith, Texas to George and Ida Fields Powers. She passed away Monday September 20, 2010 at the CARE Inc. nursing facility in Early, Texas. She grew up in Edith near Robert Lee, Texas. Opal was in the nursing profession as a LVN nurse for twenty three years, before retiring in 1981. Her hobbies were crafts quilting, playing cards and dominoes. She was a Baptist, but her grandfather Green Cotton Fields was a Methodist minister.
She is survived by her sister Eva Ashworth, her nephews Roscoe Blanton, Preston Blanton, Larry Ashworth , Morgan Ashworth and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband N.C. “Dutch” Montgomery, a stepson Clayborn, a sister Leah Blanton, and her parents.
