Brownwood Lion Kaimon Ontiveros has been selected to join the 2013 Under-18 U.S. National Development Team. His selection was based on his football skills, leadership and character as evaluated at development camp.
Ontiveros participated in the development camp that was held on February 9th and 10th in Austin, which featured two days of competition, including individual drills, 1-on-1 training and 7-on-7 situations. This included the opportunity to train with and learn from former NFL players and coaches.
The Under-18 National Development Team will consist of top eleventh-grade football players from around the United States. As the national governing body for the sport, USA Football will provide athletes with the opportunity to compete on the world’s stage.
From July 6-12, the U.S. Under-18 National Development Team will compete at USA Football’s Development Games, which is being hosted by St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, located in Austin, Texas.
Ontiveros, a 5’11, 170 lb Safety, chalked up 68 tackles with two interceptions, two caused fumbles, 10 pass break-ups and returned the ball 5 times for a total of 210 yards in the Lions’ 2012 football season.
Lions Dylan Lewis and Braxton Kilgo were nominated for the development team and participated in the camp back in February.
