Kaimon Ontiveros was named KTXS Sports’ player of the week and is in the running for the Dave Campbell’s Texas High School Football’s Gridiron Player of the week as well after he made a monstrous game winning 107 yard kickoff return with just 14 seconds left in Friday’s game against Burnet.
Kaimon has overcome injuries and has proven himself a leader of the Brownwood Lions football team according to head coach Chuck Howard. Ontiveros and Coach Howard both gave the defense credit for making the “beautiful wall” along the sideline that cleared the way for Ontiveros to sprint to the goal line.
“After I got past that first defender, all I saw was about 7 maroon shirts that had a giant wall down the sideline,” he said. “I knew after I got past that first defender that I was in good shape.”Ontiveros also had 3 touchdown receptions in the first half of the game.
This Friday, the Lions will take on the Liberty Hill Panthers in what promises to be another great game. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood.
