Upon arrival, officers discovered that one vehicle was involved. This vehicle, a 1989 Toyota Corolla, left the roadway and rolled over. The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was identified as 50-year-old Mitchell Ray Pierson of May, Texas.
Mr. Pierson was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bryan Thompson. The body was taken to Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Relatives of the deceased have been notified.

Update 9:25 a.m. Friday: Brownwood Police confirm Friday morning that Thursday’s rollover accident involved a fatality. The victim is not being identified until next of kin is notified. The victim was described as a mature male, thought to be in his 50s. Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller stated that the victim’s identity will most likely be released later this morning.
Original Story: Brown County first responders were dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover accident near the Brownwood Airport Thursday night. The accident was reported at approximately 10:00 p.m.
It appeared that the passenger car was traveling northbound on Highway 183N and left the roadway, rolled and landed off the road near the intersection of Highway 183N and County Road 339.
Because that stretch of highway is part of the Brownwood city limits, Brownwood Police are leading the investigation with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Brownwood Police released no further information from the scene, but BPD officials on scene said that more information would be released Friday morning by Police Chief Mike Corley. Law enforcement was still investigating the scene at 11:30 PM. Justice of the Peace Bryan Thompson was called to the scene.
Texas Department of Public Safety, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brownwood Police, Early Police, Brownwood Fire Department, Early Volunteer Fire Department and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.
