Brownwood Police responded to a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning which damaged three portable buildings in the 3100 block of U.S. Hwy 377 South.
According to the report, the accident occurred at approximately 7:44 a.m. Law enforcement officials report that the 16-year-old driver of a 2012 Ford Escape was traveling south when he left the roadway, crossed two lanes of oncoming traffic and entered the parking lot of a portable building sales lot.The responding officer described the accident stating that the vehicle entered the lot and the driver had performed a “Dukes of Hazard move,” and that the vehicle had driven completely through three portable buildings, nicking a carport and driving through a fence on the lot. The officer further described in his report that the vehicle was “completely air born as it traveled through the first building and the luggage rack was ripped off by the rafters.”
The vehicle came to rest in a slightly elevated position, due to fence posts, next to the adjacent business’ building. The officer reported that the cause of the accident most likely caused by either the driver being distracted or having fallen asleep. The driver was reported to be uninjured.
