Nissan

Emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident involving a single car which ran through a wrought iron fence, narrowly missing two mature trees, in the 1900 block of Austin Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

The four-door Nissan struck the fence, causing damage to the fence and minor damage to the car.  The driver was transported to the hospital for treatment.  According to witnesses on scene, the driver may have been driving while under the influence.

As the ambulance was responding to the scene of the accident, it entered the intersection of Avenue K and Austin Avenue and was struck by an oncoming small white pickup.  All occupants of the ambulance and the pickup were uninjured and the vehicles were not damaged; however another ambulance was called to the scene to transport the driver from the first accident.

Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police, Guardian EMS and the fire marshal responded to the scenes of the accidents.
