Emergency responders were called to a single-vehicle accident in Early Friday afternoon involving a woman who is 8-months pregnant and her nearly 1-year-old daughter which sent the mother to the hospital after she began having contractions.
According to the woman’s sister-in-law, who came to the accident scene to take custody of the woman’s infant daughter, the woman and her daughter were traveling toward Longhorn Drive on Skyview Drive to visit her sister-in-law and to finish plans for the daughter’s 1st birthday (June 2nd).
The trip was interrupted when, around 1:30pm Friday, a large black pickup truck was approaching her vehicle from the opposite direction taking up too much of the road, according to the driver’s report to law enforcement. The woman stated to emergency responders that she moved her Jeep Cherokee over in order to miss colliding with the oncoming truck when her tire caught the edge of the road causing her to lose control of the vehicle and drive through a barbed wire fence and into a pasture. The accident occurred approximately 1 mile down Skyview from Longhorn Drive.
Emergency responders stated that it appears the woman will be okay and that her infant daughter suffered only minor injury to a tooth which was bleeding. Her sister-in-law stated that she was being transported to the hospital due to the continuing contractions which began after the wreck.
The Jeep Cherokee sustained damage to the front-end and front quarter panel of the driver’s side due to striking the fence line and some mesquite trees as the vehicle finally came to rest in the field. The oncoming truck was not at the scene when a Brown County Sheriff’s deputy, DPS trooper, Early Police and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.
