One woman was killed and another man and a woman were injured in a head-on collision just after midnight Wednesday morning north of Goldthwaite in Mills County.

Department of Public Safety officials said Mandy Helotis, 26, from Santa Fe, New Mexico was pronounced dead at Brownwood Regional Medical Center on Wednesday as a result of the crash.

Olager Franco Delacruz, 30, of Mullin was taken to Hamilton Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Laura Sirica, 25, of Glen Cove, N.Y., was taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The DPS report indicates that Sirica was driving east in a 2002 Hyundai Elantra at around 12:20 a.m. on U.S. Highway 84 about two miles north of Goldthwaite when a westbound 2007 Ford Sport Trac driven by Delacruz crossed into the opposite lane and struck Sirica’s vehicle head-on.   Helotis was the passenger in the Elantra.

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seat belts.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by DPS.
