A woman was transported to the hospital as a result of a one-vehicle rollover accident on Austin Avenue Thursday morning.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. when the driver of the Ford Explorer was traveling south in the 1300 block of Austin Avenue. Witnesses on scene state that the vehicle slid, and it appeared the driver over corrected, causing the vehicle to strike the curb and roll on its side. The vehicle landed in an upright position in front of the Girling Center for Criminal Justice at the Howard Payne University. Ruts could be seen in the lawn of the campus near the bell tower, where a railing and steps had been struck by the vehicle and knocked down.According to first responders on scene the extent of the woman’s injuries was unknown but believed to be non-life threatening. She was reported to have been alert and talking after the accident.
Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police Department and Allegiance EMS responded to the scene of the accident.
