ZackMCThe Oilpatch Drifters Riding Club recently held a benefit for Zack Clements raising $1300.

The BBQ fundraiser of pulled pork sandwiches was organized to help Zack and his family pay for an internal defibrillator.  Zack is a 17-year-old student at Victory Life Academy in Brownwood who collapsed in gym class with a cardiac arrest.  He passed out on the football field and was clinically dead for 20 minutes, according to medical personnel.  He was transported to Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth where he remained unconscious for three days.

Organizers thank all the businesses and individuals who made the fundraiser possible with donations and support.

One of the organizers, Judy Lamb, had the pleasure of meeting Zack and his parents.  “He is an amazing young man. He has overcome so much in the past couple of months, but he always had a smile on his face and has an amazing attitude. The message on his shirt sums it all up ‘Death, Been There, Done That.’”
