Official Press Release From BISD Regarding Presidential Address to Students

After meeting with all campus principals, Brownwood ISD has reached the following decision regarding the Presidential Address to the Students scheduled for Tuesday, Sept 8^th.  Dr. Blincoe, Superintendent of Schools, will personally watch the address at the scheduled broadcast time of 11:00 am CST.  If the message is non-political in nature as we have been led to believe, Dr. Blincoe will approve the possible broadcast of the message at each campus in the district, which will be no earlier than Wednesday, September 9th.

Campus principals will have the option to show the broadcast at their individual campuses and will determine the best way to do that.  PARENTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION FOR THEIR CHILDREN TO BE EXCUSED FROM THIS BROADCAST. If a parent chooses for their child not to participate, they should send a note to school stating this on Wednesday, September 9th.  Alternate activities will be planned for those students not participating.  Under no circumstances should a parent keep their children home for the entire school day just to avoid this lesson.
