I’ve never written for something like this. Most of my writing in school, ok ALL my writing in school, was prompted by an assignment and was met with disdain and contempt. They tried to get me to journal, to keep a log of my daily activities, set goals for the day. Yeah, it never took. I was a window looker-outer, and margin doodler, a pretty-girl-in-class-starer-ater from the corner of my eye. So why in my wildest dreams would I want to write a column for this great website? What else could possibly be on my mind that I didn’t share with my listeners every morning?
Honestly? I have no idea!!
I think this could be a fun way to connect with you that is a little different venue from the way we normally do. A place for musings and thoughts that take a little time to craft, and to peruse. So many times what I say on air is off the cuff and spontaneous. And hopefully gut bustingly funny! That’s the problem with a radio show, I tell a joke or make a funny comment (Or so I think) and there is no laugh track, no live studio audience, no instant feedback. So I have to assume what I said “worked” and not “bombed”. I’m going to try to keep this a regular thing, once a week on Mondays. Let’s see how this goes. I’m excited, and I hope you are as well.
As I say every morning at the close of the show, Talk to ya, see ya, BYE!Ben Cox is the morning show host of “Ben Cox in the Morning” on KQBZ, 96.9 FM in Brownwood Texas. He reports from the sidelines at every Early Longhorn game, and is the new in-stadium voice of the Howard Payne Yellowjackets football team. Ben is also an event DJ for weddings, parties and the like.
The thoughts and comments reflected in this column are those of the writer alone, and are not related or affiliated in any way with Wendlee Broadcasting, or its affiliates.
