I have never been hunting.
There, I said it, it’s out there now. You know, now, my dark secret.
It has nothing to do with animal rights, or any shadow of a possibility that I might be somewhat aligned with PETA.
I paraphrase Ron White: “It’s 4 am, it’s cold, and I don’t wanna go!”
(I get up in the 4 o’clock hour most days, so to do so when I don’t have to constitutes cruel and unusual, self-inflicted punishment!)
I chalk my lack of experience in this matter to being what Phil Robertson would call “a yuppie kid raised in the suburbs. I am not averse to guns, or anything that goes into hunting, in fact, I’d like to try it. I just haven’t worked up the motivation enough to warrant getting a license, acquiring a rifle, and finding somebody who will take me without laughing at me at every turn!
I’ve been thinking about getting my CHL, (Yes, different type of guns, I know that much!) and have been shooting before. I quite liked it! My problem with spending the amount of money it’d take to get a gun that is halfway decent is I see that multiple hundred dollar price tag, and I immediately think about the guitars I could buy with that money!!I have expensive hobbies, and apparently, the only difference between men and boys is the PRICE of their toys!
So, if you’re reading this and have the sudden desire to take me hunting next season, wonderful! Let’s meet up around, oh, 9 in the morning on a mild day, and go out for an hour or so, and sit in comfy chairs and laugh at jokes while we wait for that perfect buck to walk by and stop for us to shoot him.
