BenCox2015I was working on something at the radio station this morning, when a man walked by the studio. He was there to record a commercial, and while he looked familiar, I couldn’t quite place his face.

As it turned out, I’ve known him for the better part of six years! (Sorry, Daniel!) I hadn’t seen him in a few years, as he is never in the building when I am. (Yeah, we also work for the same company, it’s that bad!)

We caught up once I realized who he was and chatted for a few minutes about how things have been going, you know, the standard conversation for this particular scenario. (I know I’m not the only one this happens to. Right?)

He had changed since I saw him last, mainly, his hair was not the color it once was. Hey, mine isn’t in the same place it once was, so don’t feel too bad!

It got me thinking. How much have I changed over the past few years?

A lot. And also, not much.

When I moved to Brownwood six years ago, I was married, with a smaller gut, less gray in my beard, and identified myself musically as a guitar player.

As I mentioned last week, that last part has changed rather recently, and my gut has grown over that time as well. So has the gray in the beard.

I do still have the same amount of hair though. (Granted, “not much” isn’t a great place to start from when measuring that!)

So yes, I have changed. In more ways than are visible. The way I approach things now is different. I take different stances on issues in the news than I did in my younger days.

Yeah, I’m older, too. As clearly defined when I was at lunch at a local wing restaurant last week. Out waitress was named Paula, and I remarked to my friend that I hadn’t met a young person with that name before.

And then it hit me: I had used the term “young person” without thinking…

I might as well have told her to get off my lawn and turn her music down!…

OK, enough of this changing stuff! I am good where I am, really!!!
