Funeral Services for Novela Grant Solsbery, age 91, of Brownwood will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at First Christian Church with Pastor Sterling Lentz officiating; burial will follow at Richland Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Novela passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Novela was born on March 27, 1925, to Alonzo Clark and Winnie (Newby) Grant in the Locker Community in San Saba County. She worked for Midland I.S.D. for 50 years before retiring. Novela was a member of First Christian Church for 10 years. She loved gardening and flowers, and interior design.She is survived by her brother, A.C. Grant of Brownwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Novela was preceded in death by her husband, Hulen Solsbery; son, Lester Clark Solsbery; parents, Alonzo and Winnie Grant; brother, James Neal Grant; and sister, Ocelia Fikes.
