Brownwood emergency responders were called to a two vehicle accident at the corner of Austin and Center Avenues involving a Brownwood school bus on Friday afternoon just after 3 PM.
According to emergency responders, the 26 seat bus was full of Brownwood ISD school children, and there were no injuries reported. The bus was traveling south on Austin Avenue after just it picked up students from Northwest Elementary School shortly before the accident occurred. Worried parents began showing up to the scene shortly after they heard about the accident.
A friend of the driver of the passenger car involved in the accident stated that the driver reported to him that she was uninjured. According to the friend who arrived on scene after the accident, the driver of the passenger car was from out of town and thought the intersection was a four-way stop. He said that she pulled into traffic from the downtown side of Center Avenue by mistake when the bus struck the passenger side of her vehicle.
Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department, Guardian EMS, and officials from Student Transportation Services responded to the scene.
