The fall 2011 semester at Howard Payne University brought several new faculty members to the HPU classrooms. Six full-time and three adjunct faculty members have joined a dedicated group of professors and instructors who invest daily in the success of HPU’s young men and women.

 “We at HPU are very excited by the caliber of individuals joining the university’s faculty,” said Dr. Mark Tew, provost and chief academic officer. “I anticipate that they will make an extraordinary contribution to our students, their peer faculty members and our community at large.”

Dr. Danny Brunette-López joins HPU as associate professor of Spanish and chair of the Department of Modern Languages. He most recently served at McMurry University in Abilene.

Samuel Greene serves as assistant professor of political science. He joins HPU from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Derek Hatch is the new assistant professor of Christian studies. He had previously taught at the University of Dayton in Ohio.

Amy Kresta is HPU’s new instructor of biology. She joins the university from Cisco College.

Paul Lilly serves as HPU’s instructor of criminal justice. He recently served at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

Mike Terrill, who previously served as HPU’s head athletic trainer, joined the faculty this semester. He is serving as assistant professor of athletic training.

New adjunct faculty members for the 2011-2012 academic year are Dr. Elisabeth Greene, music, who previously taught at the University of Maryland; Mickey Sargent, mathematics, who joins HPU from Ranger College and Sul Ross State University; and Melissa Switzer, social work, a licensed clinical social worker who previously served as the clinical director for A World for Children.
