The Brownwood High School Eisenhower Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted new members on November 8th in the Dorothy McIntosh Fine Arts Center. The guest speaker this year was Dr. Gary Gramling, a professor at Howard Payne University. Mr. Lance Beaumont, also a professor at Howard Payne University, played classical guitar music for the ceremony. The invocation was given by chapter member Mathew Newton.
President Taylor Combs presided over the Induction Ceremony. Other officers, Caitlyn Cloy, Amanda Gober, Kayla Morgan, and Becky Fowler, explained the four characteristics of an NHS member: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. “Being part of National Honor Society means standing up when facing obstacles, because we have to shine more than ever.”
Assistant Principal Mitch Moore and Principal Bill Faircloth presented the inductees with their membership certificates. After Taylor Combs led the inductees in the National Honor Society Pledge, Chapter Adviser Dean Kiesling presented the new members to Mr. Faircloth.
A reception was held in the student center following the ceremony.
