The road construction hit a crucial point today as workers worked to install the new traffic signal bridge at the intersection of Early Blvd, U.S. Hwy 183 North and Orchard Drive on Friday morning but hit some problems along the way.
Installation was scheduled to begin at 7am on Friday, but Early Police Chief David Mercer announced that the project was delayed until 9am due to the weather.
Traffic along Early Blvd was blocked and diverted to side streets as Early Police with assistance from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office directed traffic through the detours.
Two large cranes lifted the main part of the signal bridge into position just after 10am as workers worked to secure it into place, but technical issues with the fittings halted the project and the main part of the signal bridge was taken down.
Another attempt will be made once the problems are worked out.
The Texas Department of Transportation recently said that they hope to have all four lanes of traffic open by deer season which is next month.
