New students at Howard Payne University participated in the traditional Chime In ceremony on Thursday afternoon, symbolizing their entrance into the HPU community.
The beginning first-year and transfer students were led through the gates of the Wilson Gate by Dr. Bill Ellis, HPU president; his wife, Dr. Diana Ellis; and Student Body President Scott Perkins. Faculty, staff and returning students lined the Wilson Walkway and prayed for the students as they began their new journey at HPU.
This year, Chime In was held on the first day of new student orientation to allow parents and family members the opportunity to participate.
