The City of Brownwood released some good news and bad news regarding construction of a pair of highly anticipated projects.
Remodeling of the old Coliseum Annex into the new Senior Citizens Center will be completed on Thursday according to City Manager Bobby Rountree.
“The senior citizens program is going to be closed this Friday and the following Monday,” Rountree said. “Plans are to re-open the new Senior /Recreation Center Annex on Tuesday the 15th.”
A grand opening will be scheduled after about a week of operation in the newly remodeled facility.
The other news from the city was that the new Family Aquatic Center will not be open until early July. The opening day was scheduled to be June 15th, but a tightness test of the swimming pool will cause a short delay.
“We are going to proceed with the 10 day water tightness test,” Rountree said. “This will put us probably around July 4th weekend (to open).”
Rountree said that they want to take this precaution to help avoid water leak repairs in the future. He said that the construction of the pool and bath house is about 80% complete.
