The 41st annual KOXE/KBWD Cherry Pie radio auction was a big success on Saturday at the Adams Street Community Center as a new record was set.
The annual auction brought in $18,520 this year to benefit Brownwood area youth sports. That total was more than $700 over last year’s total.
Organizers said that the total included a $2,475 donation from the VFW Post 3278 and money from auctioned off items, including a Shelby Miller game worn gold that sold for $1,050.
All the money raised will be divided equally between Cen-tex Soccer, Soccer for Fun, Freshman League baseball, Teen-age League baseball and Girls softball.
“On behalf of Parks and Rec Director David Withers, we just want to say a big thank you to all the donors of the merchandise, the volunteers, and of course everyone who came out or called in and made their bids,” said Carl Wayne from KOXE .
