The Brownwood Police Department welcomed two new officers to the force on Monday; both of whom took their Oath of Office and Law Enforcement Oath of Honor during the city council meeting.  Although new to the Brownwood force, both men come to BPD after having served at other police departments in the area.

Officer Doug Hurt joins the department from Early Police Department.  Hurt graduated from Brownwood High School in 1978 and has worked as a law enforcement officer with the Midland Police and Brown County Sheriff’s Office in the past.  He also attended Howard Payne University majoring in Christian Studies, then pastored the Baptist Church in Christoval, Texas for 12 years.  He returned to law enforcement in May of 2012, working for EPD until he was able to join BPD.  Hurt also stated he is looking forward to attaining his masters certification in law enforcement in the near future.  Hurt’s wife of 29 years pinned his badge on after the Oaths were given.

Officer Bryan Greenrock comes to BPD after a brief time of entrepreneurship as a general contractor.  Greenrock previously worked as an officer with Coleman Police Department.  He has a teenage son who was present and had the honor of pinning the BPD badge on his father.

Brownwood Assistant Chief James Fuller stated that BPD has hired two additional officers who will be introduced in the near future.  These four new officers will fill all vacancies, bringing Brownwood Police Department to full strength, said Fuller.
