Medical Oncologist/Hematologist, Victor J. Hirsch, MD has joined the Medical Staff of Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Hirsch, formerly of Abilene, Texas most recently practiced at Hendrick Medical Center & Abilene Regional Medical Center. He also serves as a consulting physician in many area facilities.
Dr. Hirsch graduated from University of South Dakota School of Medicine and the University of Texas Dallas – Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, Texas and a Clinical Fellowship in Hematology-Oncology- Department of Internal Medicine, University Texas Health Science Center at Dallas, and Southwestern Medical School Dallas, Texas. He earned his Master of Science in Medical Management at University of Texas Dallas School of Business, Southwestern Medical School-Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Hirsch is Board Certified Medical Oncology, Board Certified Hospice & Palliative Care & Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is also certified by American Academy of Pain Management and a Fellow, American College of Physicians.
Dr. Hirsch’s quality of care has been proven by being a recipient of Texas Monthly, Best Doctors and Best Doctors in the US for multiple years (representing the top 5% of doctors, selected by his peers and a blue ribbon panel of reviewers).His care and compassion for his patients was very evident when he led a group in the development of a non-profit foundation in the Big Country that focused on resources for cancer patients and their families. The foundation’s purpose was to enhance the care and treatment for those fighting this dreaded disease. The Foundation is now known as Cancer Services Network. With the Foundation’s outreach over the years, it has allowed Walker Cancer Center to utilize the services here at BRMC.
Dr. Hirsch has been married to his wife Sherry for 43 years. They have two children, John who has a Master of Science in Sports Physiology and a daughter, Samantha Goodman who recently opened her Internal Medicine Practice at Hendrick Medical Center in the Hendrick Provider Network. They have 2 grandchildren Kiley Jo Hirsch and Easton Dean Goodman and are expecting a 3rd grandchild soon.
