Corporal Brandon McMillian with the Early Police Department returned last week from the K9 academy in San Antonio, TX.
Cpl McMillian and K9 “Jambo” have certified in narcotics detection and tracking services. Jambo is a 2-year-old black German Sheppard that is very eager to work.“We have received great support from the community in Early and Brownwood,” stated Early Police Chief David Mercer.
Mercer explained that the Brown County Animal Clinic on Early Blvd is providing veterinary services, Ag Mart on Highway 377 South in Brownwood is providing the food, and Wal-Mart provided grant money which assisted in the purchase of Jambo.
“We are very excited to have Jambo added to our department and helping to fight the war on drugs. Jambo will be available to all local agencies immediately upon their request for drug searches and tracking situations,” said Mercer. “Jambo is trained to track and will be available to aid any agency in a situation of a lost child, an elderly individual who may be lost or a fugitive on the run.”
