allsupsThe city of Early is expecting a couple of new businesses to come to town in the next year along with an expansion to an existing business according to city administrator Ken Thomas.

In a presentation to the Brownwood Board of Realtors on Friday, Thomas said, “We have a new car wash and a new bank in the process.”

These two businesses will be going in on Early Blvd across the street from Sligers.  The bank will be called Farmers Merchants Bank based out of DeLeon.  It will be a full service bank and is currently scheduled to be up and running in spring of 2010 according to the bank’s website.

Thomas also discussed a new Allsup’s Convenience Store coming to town.  “That’s an interesting one,” Thomas said, “I have talked with those people for 20 years I guess.  Finally, we can say that they are about to build a new store.”

Allsup’s has purchased property adjacent and behind their current store located at 910 Early Blvd.   They plan to build a new store behind the current building and demo the old store once it is complete.

Thomas said, “The thing I am looking forward to more than anything is the completion of Early Blvd,” referring to the ongoing construction project in the vicinity of Heartland Mall.

Thomas has been told that the new completion date is November 14th, but construction crews qualified that date by telling him no later than November 20th.  Either way, it should be 100% finished by Thanksgiving.

Thomas said, “From the city of Early’s standpoint, we really feel like the best is ahead of us.”
