Mike Corley, Brownwood’s first ever appointed police chief, will start his new job on Monday with a swearing in ceremony in the council chambers of City Hall.
Mayor Bert V Massey II will administer the oath of office and recently retired Police Chief Virgil Cowin will perform the pinning of the badge for the newly appointed chief. Corley will also make brief comments to those in attendance.
A reception will also be held at City Hall immediately following the meeting and the public is invited to attend and meet the new chief and other Brownwood Police Officers in attendance.
Corley is coming to Brownwood from Richardson Texas where he has been the assistant police chief since 2002. He has over thirty-four years of law enforcement experience and is a third generation police officer, following in the steps of his father and grandfather.
