Brownwood News – Brownwood Police Chief, Ed Kading, is now on duty.  Chief Kading was sworn-in to office in a brief ceremony which started at 1:00 pm Monday, July 8, 2019, in the training room of the Law Enforcement Center.  Brownwood Mayor, Stephen Haynes, issued the Oath of Office.  Brown County Sheriff, Vance Hill, issued the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor.


Chief Kading’s son pins the Chief’s Badge.

During his remarks, Chief Kading recognized members of his family in attendance including children, mother and brother.  His son, Donovan, pinned the badge on his father.  Coming to Brownwood after 25 years of service with the San Angelo Police Department, Chief Kading thanked members of the San Angelo Police Department, including the Police Chief and Assistant Chief, who attended the ceremony, as did several San Angelo PD officers.

Chief Kading said he is confident and ready to lead the Brownwood Police Department.  “You have welcomed me to your community, you have been helpful and friendly making this a smooth transition.  Brownwood is now my home and you have assured that it feels as such,” Kading said.
