Brownwood Police Chief Mike Corley will announce that James Fuller (Pictured) has been chosen as the new Assistant Chief of Police at Tuesday’s Brownwood City Council Meeting.
City Secretary Christi Wynn will administer the Oath of Office to Fuller at the meeting and Chief Corley will give him the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor.
Fuller served as Interim Police Chief from March 24th, after outgoing chief Virgil Cowin retired, until May when Corley was hired for the position. Officer Fuller has been a member of the Brownwood Police Department since December 2000.
Before coming to the Brownwood Police Department, Fuller served in the US Army from 1990-1999 where he was a member of the Military Police and served as a Narcotic/Explosive Dog Handler. He has received Intermediate, Advanced and Masters Peace Officer Certifications and served in Brownwood’s Criminal Investigation Division.
He received the Brownwood Police Department Medal of Valor Commendation Award in 2006 and served as the President of the Brownwood Municipal Police Association.
