Cheairs_NellOur beloved mother, Virginia Juanelle Rogers Cheairs, 83, returned to her heavenly father at 3:05 P.M., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family and friend Dub Baker.  She had a long, hard fought battle with cancer and was a very strong willed individual, determined in her beliefs and faith.

Nell was born August 27th 1929, in Brownwood to W.A. and Merle Rogers of Brownwood.  She was a graduate of Brownwood High School and married Meldon Cheairs.

Nell was a wife and mother and very active in Austin Avenue Church of Christ where she was a gospel teacher for 15 years.  She was an old fashioned mother and wife in the very best sense of the word.  She loved cooking, decorating, entertaining, music and made a loving a beautiful home for her husband and children while being active in her church and community.

She was highly interested in whatever her children were doing and was a member of the Possettes, as well as President of the PTA and active in band boosters.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents, husband Meldon Cheairs and sister, Margaret Vonn Rogers Ellis.

She is survived by her daughters, Marsha L. Cheairs of San Antonio, Texas, Zana Cheairs Broad and husband Stephen of Brady, Texas, son Leland Cheairs, wife Lona and family of Cedar Park, Texas, adopted daughter Patricia Becktold, and husband Robert of Early, granddaughters Stephani Broad Ugale and husband Justin of Charoltte, North Carolina and Jamie Broad Pope and husband Rick of Fort Mill, South Carolina, grandsons Michael and David Becktold, 3 great granddaughters Mazzie and Lola Ugali, Jayli Pope and  sisters, LaVern Loudermilk of Brownwood, Texas, Sylva R. Dornhecker of International Falls, Minnesota, brother Buddy Rogers of Abilene, Texas, sisters-in-law Nelda Thomas and Nelma Edgar, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and special friends Dub Baker and Jo Laynne Boies.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 in the Austin Avenue Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cherokee Home for Children, American Cancer Society and Lighthouse Hospice or the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to all the nurses and aids of Lighthouse Hospice.
