Nelda Rodgers Posey, age 83 of Brownwood passed away June 3, 2015 at a local nursing home. Nelda was born January 4, 1932 to W.C. and Anna Rodgers in Brownwood. She was lifetime resident of Brownwood, marrying Allen Posey on September 2, 1950 in Brownwood.
She graduated from Howard Payne University with her Masters Degree in Education and taught Junior High and High School in Brookesmith, Rochelle, and Brownwood. She also volunteered at the Brown County Literacy Council, and played the piano and the organ at many churches throughout Brown County.
She is survived by her son Valton Posey and wife Debbie of Brownwood, 2 grandsons Justin Posey and wife Krissy, Brandon Posey and wife Lennon both of Brownwood; 3 Great grandchildren Kori, Logan, and Hayden; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Posey, her parents, 2 brothers H. Don Rodgers, Perry Rodgers, and a sister Loreta Rodgers Wells.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Indian Creek Cemetery with Bro. David Barnum Officiating, no visitation has been scheduled.
