Services for Nelda Iris Sampson Harkness will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Brown Ranch Cemetery in Fisk. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Harkness passed away on December 26, 2014.
Nelda was born in Galveston, Texas on December 10, 1928. She was the Business Owner/Real Estate Broker of Coleman County Land Company in Coleman, Texas. She was also a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Coleman. She attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Howard Payne College in Brownwood and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Brownwood, as well as being a member of the Community Playhouse Theatre in Brownwood. Nelda was an animal lover and a people person who loved her many friends. She loved to travel, entertain and enjoyed art, opera, theatre and history.
She is survived by husband, Frank Harkness of Cedar Creek Lake, sister, Bettye Knight Hart of San Angelo, nephew Billy Hart and wife Tara Hart and children of San Angelo and nephew Michael Knight and wife Doris Knight of Green Spring, Wisconsin.
Nelda is preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Helen Knight, sister Juanita Bernadine Knight, brother, Oliver Holmes Knight and husband, Mack Eugene Sampson.Please leave online condolences at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
