Nelda Gay Slaughter, age 64, of Early died Monday in the Texas Resource Prebysterian Hospital in Denton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Cross Plains Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
She was born February 17, 1946 in Brownwood, the daughter of L. Z. and Gladys Dillard Edwards. She married Michael Slaughter in Brownwood in February 1981. She worked in retail sales as a clerk for many years and had lived in Brown County most of her life. She attended the Maranatha Faith Temple in Brownwood.

2 Sons – Bobby Phillips and wife Debbie of Callisburg, Texas
Randy Phillips and wife Kimberly of Krum, Texas
4 Grandchildren – Ryan, Ethan, Joshua and Seth
A sister – Linda Thetford and husband Max of Lake Brownwood
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bobby Carroll Edwards.
