Effective Thursday, Native Air, one of Brownwood’s two air ambulance services relocated their base to another city. Details of the relocation were not available as of Friday morning.
Native Air officials released the following statement:
It has been our pleasure serving the citizens of Brownwood and Brown County and we look forward to continuing our service albeit from another location. While we had hoped to avoid any type of service disruption, this relocation will require us to be without this aircraft for several days. During the interim we will still be available to assist the citizens of this community from one of our other bases of operation in Abilene.
According to Tracey Budz, Director of Corporate Communications of Air Methods, which is the parent company of Native Air, the relocation of the base was a mutual contractual decision.
“It was a mutual decision between Native Air and Brownwood Regional Medical Center to relocate the aircraft in an effort to best serve the community,” said Budz in a recent email. “We do anticipate the location will continue to serve the Brownwood area though.”
As the relocation becomes finalized more details of the new Native Air location will be released according to Budz.
Air Evac 52 will continue operations in Brownwood.
