The local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation’s annual “Turkey Hunters Care” program is donating approximately 750 pounds of frozen turkeys to local nonprofit groups.
Pictured above is Russ Porter, president of the local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, as he stands behind 375 pounds of frozen turkeys which were donated to Good Samaritan Ministries’ food bank on Tuesday. These turkeys are often combined with other food donations to make a nice holiday box for the families during the holidays.
According to Porter, the NWTF also plans to give the same amount of frozen turkeys to the Family Services Center in December. Brown County 4-H club members supply the extras to make the meal complete for those who receive the turkeys donated to the Family Services Center.
“God bless these families during this time of giving thanks for all that we have, and all that we can share,” said Porter.
