The Latch Key Girl Scout Troop 84302 recently made goodie bags to put with the thank you cards that were given by the students at Latch Key to the men and women serving at the National Guard in Camp Bowie.

Sergeant First Class David Harte, Mrs. Darlene Harte (who also works at the service center of National Guard as a civilian) and Major Zebadiah Miller came to visit Latch Key on November 20th and to accept these gifts from the Troop and Latch Key Children.

Founded in 1983, the Pearl Griffin Memorial Latch Key Program is located at 2411 Coggin Avenue in the First Christian Church in Brownwood, Texas.  The program serves children (Pre-K through 6th grade) who qualify from low income families to have after school care so that the children are not left home alone.

Each year, approximately 80 children are served in Brownwood by Latch Key.  First Christian Church donates the classroom space and Howard Payne students help as teachers fulfilling two needs, a low cost staff for Latch Key and a job through the Work Study Program for the HPU students.  Latch Key and Girl Scouts are United Way Organizations.
