A very informal National Day of Prayer Service has been planned for Thursday, May 5th, noon at Coleman Depot Plaza.
The public is invited to attend and join in prayer for our Nation. A Mighty Fortress is our God is the theme this year.
In an article by Joni Eareckson Tada, 2011 Honorary Chairman, she writes “The United States may be a superpower on the global state, but its citizens are, for the most part, faltering in spirit and feeble in faith. Our county today is in urgent need of help from our mighty God – it’s one reason why “A Mighty Fortress is our God” was chosen as the theme for the 2011 National Day of Prayer. To liken God to a mighty fortress is to show weak, frail human beings that their only hope for safety and security is God.”America needs God as never before! Please join together with the community at noon to pray for our Nation, our leaders and our Military!
May God continue to bless our nation.
About the National Day of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
