AustinNadaNada Alleane Austin, age 85, of Bangs, passed away Wednesday, October 10, at the Songbird Lodge Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 13, 2012 at First Christian Church with Rev. Sterling Lentz officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

She was born May 1, 1927 in Cross Cut, Texas the daughter of the late Anderson J. and Etta Davis Newton.  She attended business college following graduation from high school and was later married to Dr. Robert F. Austin in San Antonio on May 16, 1953.  He preceded her in death in 1970.  She had lived in Bangs since 1966 moving from Denison following a short time in Missouri.  She retired as a tax assessor for the Brown County Appraisal District in 1999.

Mrs. Austin was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the China Painters Association of Texas and the First Christian Church of Brownwood.  She was an avid bridge player and loved to china paint, garden, and can food.

She is survived by a daughter, Carrie Austin and husband Buck Jones of Rochelle

2 Sons – Dr. Stephen Austin and wife Kay of McKinney; and David Austin and wife Cyd of Sachse

3 Step – children – Marilyn Austin of Georgetown; Kathleen Boulding of Carlsbad, New Mexico; and Dr. Robert Austin II and wife Janet of Plano

5 Grandchildren – Carisha Kennedy, Kathryn Austin, Patrick Tharp and wife Brieanne, Sarah Austin and Benjamin Austin

2 Step Grandchildren – Taylor Jones and Zachary Jones

Great Grandchildren – Jessica Foster, Kelcy Merritts, and Matthew Merritts

Brother – A. J. Newton of Thrifty

Also several nieces and nephews including Johnny Salter, Paul Newton, Rick Newton, Justin Newton, Terry Newton, Brent Newton, Mark Newton, and Cindy Shaw.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Felicia Salter and Helen Wilson.
