For Reunion weekend, the Brown County Museum of History announces the following extended hours for the Old Jail, Annex, and The Firearms Museum of Texas: this Thursday and Friday 10:00AM to 2:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Arrangements have been made for the Reunion Shuttle Trolley to make scheduled stops at the Museum complex during open hours.
“We look forward to welcoming many returning former residents, as well as local area residents, during the coming Reunion weekend,” said Museum Manager, Mryna Wright.
A special feature for this Reunion weekend is the Birdsong miniature circus in its new Annex location near the Kids’ Zone, Wright said. This popular, animated mechanical circus is flanked by a colorful addition of several newly-acquired circus and carnival memorabilia, donated by local resident and retired circus owner Jim Roller. The exhibit includes an original Ferris Wheel seat, an antique Merry-Go-Round horse, and a collection of vintage circus posters.
“We invite you to revisit your hometown museum this weekend and see what’s new,” Wright said.
The Brown County Museum of History has many hands-on, ‘photo-friendly’ areas where visitors can pose with various aspects of Brown County history – such an historic one-room schoolhouse, an antique telephone switchboard, a log cabin, military displays telling the story of Camp Bowie days of the 1940’s, and, of course, the Kids’ Zone.
